Tell us if this sounds familiar. You want to offer a few different levels of membership. A basic level, a premium level, and something in between. One of the most obvious ways to create different value at each membership level is to offer different levels of booking restrictions. Here’s a typical setup.

Basic Membership

  • 1 tee time at a time
  • 2 hours max of daily play
  • 10 hours max of monthly play

Standard Membership

  • 2 tee times at a time
  • 3 hours max of daily play
  • 20 hours max of monthly play

Premium Membership

  • 2 tee times at a time
  • Unlimited play

These membership levels are great because they allow your members to purchase the right level for them based on how much they’d like to play.

But (and this is a big but),

How do you know your members are following these booking rules? If you’re like most club owners out there that we’ve talked to, you belong to one of two groups. You in the first group aren’t really doing much other than holding your finger to wind (or should we say grabbing a clump of grass and throwing it in the wind 😉) and hoping your members are all obediently following the rules. You believe in the decency and honesty of the human race and we applaud you for it. Those of you in the second group are slightly less trusting. Sad. You are spending the time to manually spot check your members and see how often they are booking and for how much time. Ugh. And when one of your members mistakenly goes over the limit, you have no choice but to send that awkward text, “Hey Ben, I happened to notice the last tee time you booked put you over the monthly limit. I’m afraid I’m going to have to delete it.” What a bummer for Ben. And what a bummer for you.

The good news is that with Registry and our killer booking rules, you can avoid all this. Each membership level you create can have its own custom booking rules. In the image below, check out all the settings you can customize for each group.

The best part is that once you set up your booking rules, those rules are automatically enforced through your member booking experience. Whether you’re taking advantage of our white-labelled mobile app, or just letting your members book on your website, they’ll only be able to book what you say they can book. We’ll show them right in the app how many bookings and/or hours they have available and if they are out of either, then we won’t let them booking any more tee times until more bookings or hours become available.
